Auckland Permaculture Workshop presents
Module 18. Life Place and Bioregionalism
Guest Tutor - Teremoana Jones, Project Twin Streams coordinator; Sustaining Our Streams project manager
Workshop content includes:
Introduction to Bioregionalism and Life Place theory; Relocalization - Overview of Permaculture in Auckland; Introduction to Transition Culture and the Transition design framework; Bioregional audit and stocktake; National and international examples; Field Trip to successful Auckland bioregional initiative; Celebrate local 350 Day of Global Action.
During this workshop we will be exploring what it means to live locally. We will be asking questions about what makes Auckland unique?; What might a sustainable Auckland look like?; and How can we individually and collectively turn Auckland into a sustainable city region (bioregion)? Participants will develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of where we live and learn design tools for mapping and interpreting large scale spatial information. We will take a field trip to visit real, on the ground examples of long term community design and development and talk with some of the people involved. This module
is perfect for those people wanting to learn more about their region, develop bioregional design tools and apply them to real projects. We will also include a bioregional 350 Action into the day's programme.
