Event Description

“Using Beneficial Microbes”
A workshop on methods to create healthy soil.
In a healthy soil there are literally hundreds and hundreds of species of soil
bacteria, soil fungi, and many other microscopic soil critters. A single tablespoon
of healthy soil might contain over a billion beneficial soil microbes.
This workshop presents number of different microbes and their role in creating
better health for your soil, plants and you.
10-12 Introduction and Forage on Mt Victoria.
Collecting materials for compost tea making and observing
the local fungus growth
12- 12:30 Lunch (BYO)
12:30 – 1:30 Fungus and Mycellum:
Their role in the myco- remediation of contaminated soil.

1:45 – 3 The benefits to soil of Compost Teas and how to
make them. (Grant Lyon)
3- 3:15 Break
3:15 – 4:15 E.M and Bokashi:
Methods of increasing microbe activity in your gardens.

4:15 – 4:30 Round up and Closure
When: October 31st 10- 4:30 pm (Rain date Nov 1)
Where: The Old Bandoliers Women’s Bowling Green. Lawson Place, Mt Victoria
Bring: Lunch, good footwear, sun cream, water, maybe something
to sit on and laughter.
Cost : $15 or what you can afford.
