Well done all you wonderful geeks for preparing this initiative. Let me know if there is anything I can do to make it easy for you. What a challenge! And the fact that this site has pictures is a nuisance at the time but it sure pays off because it looks so good. Did anyone get Merran Plunket's great logo which might give a common theme to all sites
Clarifying questions some had about "Google Ads" on the Ning sites -- here is an example of a site that has elected to suppress the Ads altogether --http://dharmaling.ning.com/
Well - I find this all VERY confusing. And I am very good at internetting.
How do the ones feel that are NOT good at internetting?
Completely and utterly confused - they tell me - and not very interested to come back - they tell me too!
We now have:
TT Aotearoa
Ning
Wiki
Google
Yahoo
Calendars
etc.
Then within the ning we have:
Discussions (like food growing)
groups (like "food growing")
groups (like "whangarei" which includes threads from our local food group)
blogs (which include food growing)
Where on earth are we going to post what?
Could we please please make all this a bit more user-friendly
And also so that we will find things again???

Yes, things have grown organically, so now we have a rich and diverse jungle.
Post wherever you like. No one will bite your head off for posting in the wrong place, if there are any wrong places. If you post in "the wrong place", the worst that can happen is no one sees it and so no one will respond.
As you begin using the various systems, you'll quickly find which is the most effective and which suits you best.
Thanks James and Rimu for the excellent explanation. I was not aware of the "organic" growth of these sites. In fact I wondered if different people had set up their own web sites without knowing of each other.
So I guess until rimu presents the ultimate TT website :) we will post where we feel it fits best, hoping that people searching for a topic will find it. Have also seen that some topics are being posted on both sites now to make sure people find the info.
Big thanks to all the volunteers too, you have already put an enormous amount of work into this.

The ning area of the diagram covers local groups and blogs only a little because the diagram is intended to show what the sites are being used for, not what features they offer.
The assumption was that people don't want to know about features that no one else is using, because there would be little or no content for them to see.
It's purpose is to be a guide to where people are doing things, not a feature list.
Seems like a bit of turf war to me. The wiki versus the ning. Both serve different purposes. People will transit to whatever site suits their needs. Or just go away and do their own thing. Not a problem in my opinion. Keep it simple strategic.
