Many of these events were publicised on this site before they happened and James Samuel has just posted this on the google group, in case you don't go there.. Please also feel free to post in the Forum on this site.
The news is happening so fast I can't get it on my blog fast enough,
so here are some tidbits...

------------------------------
An Open Space event was held at Ranui
This toook place on Sunday the 18th May at the Earthsong community. It was very successful with a turnout of about 35 people, and some 14 conversations were had over the course of the day, around the question "TT - Next Steps?" Thank you David and Heather for initiating this and thanks to Robin and Ron at Earthsong for your hosting and facilitation.
Coromandel events pull the crowds
It was a packed house (about 70) at the local Theatre on Thursday night for an evening of TT. I presented the Transition model, Bryan Innes gave one on Genuine Wealth and then those present heard from and quizzed the speaker panel, which included a member of the green party, the labour party, Jo and Bryan Innes, Ashley, and myself.
This event was the followup to another event on Tuesday night, also with very good attendance, where Thomas Evert offered the film of Richard Heinberg's "Peak Everything" presentation at Orewa (thanks to www.deepgreen.co.nz for the video) and a power point presentation on Peak Oil.
Coromandel Initiating Group is formed at an Open Space meeting
Following Thursday night's meeting a group of about 25 people came together at the Steiner School on Friday morning, and after lively discussions in 5 break out groups, a core group stepped forward to lead the transition initiative for Coromandel - Well done Thomas for all your preparation to these events.
Whitianga Transition initiative kicked off with its first meeting last week
A group of them came to the Coromandel event (in a bus) to let us know about this new intiative.
Pt Chevalier starts Transition initiative
Finn Mackesy alerted me to a meeting held last week, in which a group of active Pt Chev citizens had gathered and agreed that the transition model was a healthy and appropriate one to network the many projects already underway in their Auckland suburb.
First Transition Town skill sharing event held in Northland
15 people were hosted at the lovely Antara Centre near Kaiwaka for a weekend of transition town training/skill sharing. Everyone gave fully of themselves and got a lot out of it as a result. A huge thank you to the people at Antara, who gave their venue for free and provided us with lovely meals, and to the facilitators, Finn Mackesy and Daniel Nepia.
Sunday Star Times (May 25) features Transition Towns and James Samuel
The first half page article on page 11 of the Star Magazine was an interview and picture.
Yes Deidre I was there and it was a great day. I have one small beef though. Everyone was asked if they minded if their emails were circulated , no one objected, but they haven't been. Great tool for networking. How about it guys ?
We have several upcoming events in Mangawhai over the next few months and even though they aren't strictly speaking sponsored, or being organized by TT Kaiwaka, we are donating funds raised to local enviremental and community groups like the Ti Airai Preservation Society, (trying to stop a large housing development from destroying the Fairy Terns last habitat, and other rare and beautiful birds and the shoreline) Green Party, TT Kaiwaka, Perhaps others too! We would like everyone to know about them so we can get a lot of people to attend from all over Northland and beyond. Please put them in your diary. For those coming from afar we have accom. for two couples & could find more I'm sure.
