Contact the organisers of the nearest group. Have they contacts for you?

Find someone else who may be interested and with them organise awareness raising events.

Use this site and the google group for asking for contacts, as has been done by Dunedin.

Contact people in your town who are known to make things happen and ask their advice and help. Movers and shakers are usually willing to share their secrets.
