I read an excellent idea in a book the other day. It talked about one of the South American countries (I forgot which one it was), facing the problem of uncontrolled population growth. How did they turn that around? - They made a daily soap about it. Basically, woman trapped in the old belief of having to have lots of kids, then learning about other ways and than couple happily using birth control - radiradira. All nicely packed up in typical soap-humour-drama style. It worked. Birth rates dropped to precisely the desired rate. How's that for a way to get to John Doe on the street.
Unfortunately it may be a bit late for a "Peak Oil Street" series...
