New Zealand Transition Initiatives Social Network

From oil dependence to local resilience

This is a bit of a beef.

I went to this day and enjoyed it immensely. At the start of the day we all were asked to enter our contact details on a sheet, including email and phone. All were asked if they minded the list being circulated. No one seemed to disagree. Soon after the meet I contacted the organizers asking for the list so as to contact some of the attendees.

The list would have presented a wonderful opportunity for networking. My request was denied on the basis of 'privacy'. I find that bizarre to say the least, particularly as all were asked if that would be OK. I took a few notes of participants details but didn't take many as I was under the impression that the list would be circulated.

In my view the reason given, 'privacy', is one of the things we must get over. It's a symptom of 'business as usual', and should not be part of the new paradigm, in my humble opinion.

Can anyone throw any light on this please. The only result of this meeting so far, as far as I know, is a photographic record of the notes written up on the white board. To say the least I'm disappointed.
