New Zealand Transition Initiatives Social Network

From oil dependence to local resilience

Hi everyone.
My name is Rod Bishop, I am the owner and manager of New Zealand's most popular carpooling website: http://www.hitch.net.nz

Hitch.net.nz provides a free online carpooling service. Members can post ongoing commutes, or one of rides around the country.

I discovered your community through Samuel Campbell at Transition Towns Kapiti. Hitch.net.nz is already working for him: If you take a look at http://www.ttk.org.nz you can see how we have integrated Hitch carpooling directly onto his site.

Do you think our service would be useful to help create sustainable transport networks in your communities? If so, let me know. Hitch.net.nz will be happy to help.

I look forward to your feedback.
Rod Bishop

Hi there Rod,

We had our first TT public meeting on Friday in Tutukaka, Whangarei. I mentioned your website to everyone and that you'd added our areas on to it. There's a team working on transport alternatives in our group and they're planning to do a launch of the Hitch website in our community to get lots of people using it. So, thanks for making and promoting your site.

Cheers, Genevieve
