From oil dependence to local resilience

We had quite a low attendance at our last Transition Towns meeting in Otaki and there was speculation that this may have been the result of the dropping oil prices (it was $124 then after being $147). Oh, nothing to worry about, it was just a blip (the Governor of the Reserve Bank had said as much that day actually).

Have a look at what Richard Heinberg has to say on the postcarbon institute website . Very interesting.

The price of oil is dropping? Maybe so, in the short term - but the trend of 30% increase per year is still valid!
