New Zealand Transition Initiatives Social Network

From oil dependence to local resilience

Helper required to make this site buzz with activity

When I first created this site from the then-free ning software I was quite active in sending out broadcast messages but now I do little of it. Hence the activity has declined.

Les Squires in Boulder, Colorado supports many ning sites and has offered to work with a new person.

I am looking for someone who might

  • Agree to be an administrator of this site (adminstrators have rights to approve new members i.e recognise spammers)
  • Agree to be active in welcoming new members
  • Agree to send out regular broadcast messages which summarise what people are doing on the site
  • Agree to put all the broadcast messages on the site for new members to read.
  • Agree to help those who are starting groups based around a geographical centre.
(Actually if you could do just one of these it would help.)

We have paid $200 US for the use of this site for a year so we need to be able to get the most out of it.

Let me know by emailing me at deirdre dot kent at gmail dot com

Thanks!

Deirdre

Hi Deirdre

I'm new to the group and i've just been reading through the discussion on what to do about this site after NING went total user pays.

Obviously someone if not yourself has paid to keep this live to this point.  However i am a little confused because there was a lot of different option thrown up in that thread, however i'll not clear if any decisions were made.

What i mean is there a new social media platform that transition towns is focussing on?  I.E is it best now to use http://www.transitiontowns.org.nz/ as many suggested or was a buddypress created as was favoured by many.

Your message seeking increased activity here suggests this is still the main portal.  It wold be great if i could get some clarity around this so i can catch up with the situation and begin contributing and assisting in the right place!!

Cheers, Dale

Hi Dale

No this is just the social networking site and yes we did decide to pay for another year. This ends in July.

We will soon have to make a decision as to what we do next JUly.
