From oil dependence to local resilience

i am, as the saying goes, "running this up the flagpole" to find out if anyone salutes or shoots.
We, the sheeple, are, as usual, being conned out of our socks and our votes by the Wellington carpetbaggers.
More and more people are, hopefully, seeing the fraudulent, corrupt banking system for what it is. Remember the story/song about "The Emperor's New Clothes?" The banking system is a case in point. We have government/debt money OF the bankers, BY the bankers FOR the bankers.
Can anyone tell me how the NZ Government can "guarantee" up to NZ$450 Billion for a "fee/premium" of around NZ$1 Billion? I don't think even AIG would underwrite that size risk for that size premium. Go check out "Overseas Debt" athe the NZ Reserve Bank websit "www.rbnz.govt.nz" What "reinsurance" do you think the NZ government has, other than Joe Kiwi tax payer?
We are concerned with "peak Oil," which now seems to be history, according to The FT Article. The amazing thing about that is, if it is right and if Professor Bartlett's "doubling factor" works in reverse, we shall run out of oil totally in April 2016!!!!!!!!! An interesting thought. We are also concerned with "Climate Change." I have heard a number of people inTransition Towns expresss the view that we are too far down the track to really do anything about that. The way things are going, or, more to the point not going, i am inclined to agree. Alcohol as a fuel could help, but more of that later "www.permaculture.com" will enlighten readers.
I prsonally believe that "Peak Debt" is, from what is so obviously going on, "a real and present danger" and one that our politicians, along with their fellow thieves, rogues and vagabonds around the world, are doing nothing to alleviate. Where do think think the US, British, European and other governments get the money for the "bail out/buy in" prgrammes? They BORROWit and put it on the taxpeyers' account.
Anyway, to the real point. We are a grass roots, bottom up participatory democratic, largely autonomous group who share common interests. I saw an interesting programme on The History Channel a while ago which showed how the Celts, local, autonomous, decntralised groups united to defeat the highly centralised, controlling Roman Empre. Crossed my mind that we migh could do that to the occupants of The beehive. My personal opinion is that "Transition Towns" may, perhaps even should, evolve into a political movement (Transition Party?) because you can bet your last dollar that it will make no difference, other than bad, whichever load of bandits gets control in Wellington. I am sure we all have personal experiences of political profligacy, hypocrisy and double standards, to name but a few and you canbet nothing will change after 8 Nov., just as it won't in the USA after 4 November, maybe a few more fireworks!
The Green Party, with which Transition Towns people seem to be "aligned," is really no better than the rest. They have no answer to the debt problem. I brought Jeanette FitzSimons from keriker airport to Waitangi last February in one of my Waste Vegetable Oil powered shuttle vans. I genuinely thought I had "an ally." I told her all about our "FRYBRIDS" and she said, out of one side of her mouth "As a member of the Gren Pary, I could talk about Waste Vegetable Oil indefinitely," then, out of the other side of her mouth she said," but as cabinet minister for alternative fuels, I have to support biodiesel" I was somewhat amazed, to say the least. These are the people who support Labour who are sending trucks (belonging to a government owned company) all the way up to Kaitaia to collect Waste Vegetable Oil, which is then trucked all the way back to Auckland, to be turned into biodiesel! How about that for supporting local business and the environment. The same people who are, presumably, supporting the plans, of the same government owned company, to grow Canola in the South island for biodiesel production. You can bet they woudn't support David Blume's "Alcohol can be a Gas" philosophy because it would give control back to the people and probably turn every gas station into a museum or mausoleum and put the likes of Monsanto out of business, which is one of David Blume's avowed aims.
Several years ago, when John Key was just finance spokesman for National, I took him from Paihia to Kerikeri airport, again, after Waitangi, and before he became leader and had his own "gas guzzler" crown limo come to Kerikeri Airport (empty) to pick him, and Helen, up for Waitangi 2008-that is a stroy in itself. Anyway, during the drive I asked him "Is it true, Mr Key, that if the NZ government wanted/needed NZ$1 Million, it would print government bonds/securities, give them to a bank and borrow the $1 Million? " YES" was his reply. I then asked him if there was anything to prevent the NZ government from creting the same NZ$1 Million and spending it into circulation interest free?" "NO" was his reply.
The only "pary" in New Zealand that has a REAL alternative/answer to the debt money system is "Democrats for Social Credit" and. sadly, they appear to be so unorganised and ignored, they seem to have about the same chance of getting anyone elected as the proverbial snowball in the hot place. I shall vote for them, so they will get at least 1 vote, maybe my wife will also, so that will be 2-a small step for us, but maybe a giant one for Social Credit.
Well folks, i have had my Sunday morning rant. I do look forward to comments, good, bad or even ugly!
Kind regards
Geoff. Waterhouse

Hello again.
You see reference to "gass guzzler" crown limo above. I am attaching the 2 items that I wrote, the first back in 2005 and the second in 2008. You will see what I mean about "political profligate" I am also attaching a photograph. The 2 "gas guzzlers" to the left of my "FRYBRID" are either "Helen's" or "John's," I forget which, and it doesn't matter, it proves the point
