I have recently discovered this report, which members of this group might be interested in.  You can download it from the website I have linked to the title.

I am in the US right now, promoting the planting of fruit and nut trees here in cities. I have discovered a good sized nonprofit organisation in the US which does the same thing: the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation:  http://www.ftpf.org/  There is good information and they promote planting of fruit and nut trees in public spaces. Here is a list of resources on the website:

When out foraging folks don't forget Broom buds are edible and gorse flowers can be used to make cordial and sparkling wine. There is a great video series called a cook on the wild side by Hugh ferley-whittingstall where he travels around britain getting all his meals by foraging, as well as three foraging series under river cottage Edible Seashore, hedgerows & Mushroom Magic, they can all be watched on Youtube on the channel http://www.youtube.com/user/zodiacza, check it out. they are under the file river cottage dvd

I will ask a friend I know when he returns from a mushroom hunting holiday in Europe, I believe he has a book and will get its name and author for you, he's away for around four weeks

Does anyone know of a good list of NZ edible fungi (with pictures), a sort of field guide that I can use when out and about?

There are three pages worth of publicly accessible fruit/nut trees etc.

Interesting news, i have been interviewed by a reporter writing a story for Honda's Eclipse magazine, it is on foranging and she is using myself and mushroom enthusiast garreth renowden as sources. felt a bit strange to be talking about it to a reporter from a car mag but hey it gets it out there!
