Objectives of the Skype User Group

The Skype User Group is dedicated to these objectives:

  1. Each user will know how to use his/her computer to maintain a phone list and to talk with others worldwide free of charge.
  2. Users will be able to create conference calls and be assured that with up to 24 persons the voice quality will be acceptable.
  3. Conference organizers will learn how to create virtual broadcasts with unlimited number of participants.
  4. Grandparents will learn how to read to their grandchildren, independent of normal geographical limitations.
  5. Educators will learn how to do distance learning.
  6. Churches will learn how to include sermons or morning prayers by their supported missionaries.
  7. Music students will learn how to take singing lessons in foreign countries, without travel.
  8. And this list will grow as we share our various experiences.

Hello Skypers,  We've just activated DAILY SCAN FOR MENTIONS OF SKYPE ON THE NET.  Several times a day the list of activities is updated.  New items are added to the top of the list.  It's a good way to keep up with skype without having to do anything. As you can see above, there are 20 current items.

Anybody have questions about skype? How to form groups... Using screen sharing to conduct conference presentations without traveling to the conference... The new 5-way video... Or, as simple as getting your sound to work... Use this COMMENT WALL to post your questions.

These events are totally separate events. You sign up for one or the other.

The events are workshops -- people come when they can and stay as long as they can/want. I suggest you sign up for one of the events and come at 10:00 a.m. -- stay as long as you want to stay.

Hi Les,
Thanks for offering to repeat the skype tutorias. I've registered for Friday. I assume that's 10am Fri NZ time? I'm hoping to have others present in the office. Would it be practical for them to activlely participate? If so, would they need to register? We would only be using my computer. I could pass them my headset if they wanted to talk.

Yes, we use a third-party recording application that produces great sound quality.

Can the tutorials be recorded for those who come later?
