From oil dependence to local resilience

Woud it be of interest for a events/suggestions board to go up in the Community Centre?
There are two groups interested in getting started -one re walking/sustainable transport; the other on food security/local food growing/eating. We need more people with enthusiasm and local involvement in these groups or to start other activities.
Another activity is to start a Green map of people, places, and things of interrest in St Albans.
What would you like to see on this map -name your favourite places?

I like the idea of a notice board - will explore if we can make a space available for that! There is also a virtual notice board already: http://stalbans.gen.nz/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=12

Regarding the map - it might appear in two ways: a wiki website that Stacy is working on setting up and a map (maybe a google map) or simply drawn on paper ...
The map will go well with the 'Walking Group' - locating significant places and features in the landscape. There are a few remaining natural features, like creeks and trees - but there might also be some significant gardens.

Besides that we can also make an effort to discover the cultural landscape of St Albans - spiritual and historical places.
Yes, I know custom Google maps are possible, and I think we can have it load up when the map does... I'll have to look into it!
