From oil dependence to local resilience

A two hour session, 20 present, led by Andrew Rundle-Keswick and Pam Mazoyer showed the growing strength of the Kapiti TT group. Andrew first presented his wonderful powerpoint (how about posting it on this site Sam) and then Pam led a discussion on where from here. The group was divided into four groups of five. Each was given a different scenario to discuss. First there was Lifeboats, which is the scenario of fast climate change and rapid decline in oil production. Second was fast climate change but slower decline in oil production. Third was slower climate change but rapid decline in oil production and finally a group addressed the scenario of slow climate change and slow decline in oil production

I guess what impressed me was the fact that all twenty present are very much aware of the oil scene now. No need to start over. And the level of commitment. Then of course at the end, to relieve tension we had a laughing session for ten minutes (doors discretely closed in the community centre!).

Another Sat afternoon session will be held in two weeks where we discuss the proposed garden groups throughout Kapiti because there is a second meeting with the Council on 19th June.

So I really recommend Andrew's brilliant powerpoint.

Could Andrew's powerpoint be uploaded here? Perhaps even create a discussion group in the general Forum where we can discuss the powerpoint...
