I found out about Transition Towns...
When I was browsing the net
In the context of Transition Towns my interests / passions are:
I'm new to the Transition Towns scene, but I'm making a documentary (see below) so anything film-worthy would be particularly useful...
What are you happy to share about yourself:
I'm currently making a documentary about peak oil/climate change, sustainability, and practical lifestyle changes people can make in order to transition to a post-fossil fuel era. The idea will be to focus on positive developments like permaculture, Transition Towns, etc, rather than just forecasting a bleak future for society without offering any practical guidance (as so many environmental docos seem to do). Since I don't have any funding as yet and can't afford to go overseas, I'll be focusing on New Zealand. So please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you're an expert on sustainability and want to be interviewed, or have set up your living arrangements to be as self-sufficient as possible, or run a practical course (e.g. earth building or permaculture), or are heading a Transition Initiative...or anything else that you think might be interesting. At the moment I'm very much in the planning/pre-production stage, so any ideas would be welcome.
Where do you live (City or Town):
Wellington

Kia Ora Cate.

I now have all the footage from the Hui from one camera back in my hot little hands. I am in the process of trying to see whether I can get the footage from the other camera for you as well. Can you contact me directly at kaitiaki@orcon.net.nz and we can go from there.
Thanks.

We filmed quite a lot of the Hui and have raw footage that we are looking for an editor to turn into something more useful. Once we do that we intend to put it on the new website.
Hope this is useful.

Hi, Kate,
thanks for your message back. One small thing sustainable is that we are looking at an electric bus for the Palmy library mobile, though that isn't approved yet (and still up against the diesel competition). That's where I work and I will know more in about two months.
We had Reel Earth open many new environmental films here the past two weeks and that has been great. It combines two of my favorite things: film and ecology.
be well,
Jay

Hi, Cate,
I also welcome you to the site and hope you find it quite congenial as well as useful.
What are your plans for applying your ecology, biodiversity and environmental studies degree? Do you have work in mind soon, here in NZ?

cheers,
Jay
