Kate and Olly replied to Dave's discussion 'Bus Rapid Transit' in the group Choice Moves Alternate Transport
You are so very right to highlight the fact that no city is the same and there will consequently not be a one size fits all mass transit system for every city. New Zealand has developed a series of very different cities with different characters but…

Dave left a comment for Meaghan
Hi Meaghan - theoretically I am a member of Transition Towns but I don't get here very often, too many other pulls, even if the areas of interest overlap with the power down concepts. Anyway how are you!! This is me in my first full time paid…

Profile Information

I found out about Transition Towns...
From a friend who told me
In the context of Transition Towns my interests / passions are:
Public transport issues, intentional community and food growing
What are you happy to share about yourself:
Have a 30 plus year interest in public transport, including city bus driving, books and multiple submissions and suggestions on maximising public transport viability. Stopped owning a car 8 years ago. Believe modern bus tech and concepts such as Bus Rapid Transit , in association with carshare short term hire etc, offer better options, in most NZ situations, than rail/light rail for creating a cost effective, comprehensive alternative to car ownership and/or use. Have lived in intentional community for almost 20 years.
Where do you live (City or Town):
Christchurch
I am computer illiterate - or rather know a few small pathways well (such as layout in the Publisher programme) and get lost in the impenetrable thickets of every other programme. However by some miracle - it was easier than I thought - I have uploaded a photograph of myself in my first job - which not only dates me, by background, but also gives the false impression I am a vegetarian. Anyway it all inspires me to think I can make a larger contribution to things than previous unsuccessful attempts suggested.

Welcome Dave. You can't be too computer illiterate if you start a group. Enjoy all your activities on this site. And you have uploaded a photo. Thanks so much.
