In the context of Transition Towns my interests / passions are:
Just learning, but most interested in food and currencies at the moment. In particular, how to cater for my children's very restricted diets when we can't ship their food all round the world....
What are you happy to share about yourself:
I am a very amateur gardener! But again, learning...

Hi there - we haven't done anything with our garden yet, except cut stuff down! It's currently knee-deep in building materials. I see with macadamias that they need "temperate to tropical climates that are frost-free", which is pretty hard in Christchurch. Though if it's something you would really like to have then you might be able to construct a hot area in your garden with brick walling or some such to generate and keep heat, perhaps one that you can cover in some way in winter. The latest Organic NZ has info on using buried pipes to heat and cool your greenhouse, and you can do a lot with a good compost heap for heat, so you might be able to do some kind of raised hot bed for it. Could be a real challenge, but well worth pulling off if you can. I'd be interested to see what you come up with!

Hi Eli - thanks yes, wedding went really well. Seems a long time ago now! How are you and your family? All the best, Sarah

Hi Eli, thanks for joining the the Transition Currency group. What is your interest in economics? Did you know that we are working on setting up a new local currency here? There is a mailing list you can sign up to for information: http://groups.google.com/group/lc_chch?pli=1. The next meeting is on 22 Jan (details will be mailed out shortly.)
Also, there was a mistake on the event description of the 21 March workshop: my presentation will be held on the evening before on 20 March (not 20 Feb!) Sorry about that!
