Geert Dierick replied to Geert Dierick's discussion 'Community Land Trust - making land available to everyone'
Hi Jennifer Good to see you here! I hope you have a great time in NZ. As you might know, I strongly believe in the CLT model and was playing with the idea of starting one in NZ. Currently, we've put our focus on a reviving community in the…

Let's take 350 to our hearts

I just stumbled on the 350.org website (thanks Ruth !).The message is simple: 350 ppm CO2 is the maximum our world can take without going into a hot overdrive. 350 should be our goal and our unnegotiable demand to the Climate Conference at the end of this year. The 350 initiative is apparently rapidly growing around the world. They focus on a Climate Action day on 24 October where every community should speak with one voice: "350 is our goal, and not one ppm…See More

Hi Bryan I read your introduction in the Genuine Wealth System and am interested in the concept. We're trying to get a Community Land Trust going here and one of the problems will be to raise capital to build the housing, since the land will…

Survey - our town's global thoughts

We ran a telephone survey last week in town (Kerikeri) as an extra marketing stunt for our first Open Space this Saturday. The survey asked what people think about Climate Change, Peak Oil, our near future and whether they favor local or global.See attached the article with the results, as published in the local newspaper this week (we got second page).See More

Hey Geert, Re. the Limited Liability Partnership, its viable to be introduced in New Zealand, because it effectively a consensual partnership model that provides a framework for several individuals to negotiate and define their individual rights,…

Geert Dierick replied to Geert Dierick's discussion 'Community Land Trust - making land available to everyone'
Hi James I don't know a lot about legal structures but as you point out, NZ law could make the creation of a community land trust (CLT) more difficult. I would be interested to know more about your view on Limited Liability Partnership. I…

James Edwards replied to Geert Dierick's discussion 'Community Land Trust - making land available to everyone'
Hey Geert, I didn't mean to infer that I was upset. Just thought that some recognition of my contribution to the discussion wouldn't go amiss. No hard feelings. I think that a cooperative land ownership enterprise is a worthy endeavour.…

I found out about Transition Towns...
When I was browsing the net
In the context of Transition Towns my interests / passions are:
Helping to build a strong local community, where people are proud to be part of the team. Where they can work in a joint effort to build a future in pace with nature.
What are you happy to share about yourself:
Hilde, our two young daughters and I came to New Zealand in 2007, from busy Belgium. We were looking for a place closer to people and nature. Still looking though, but New Zealand has a rich soil to grow new ideas!
Where do you live (City or Town):
Kerikeri
