Pegasus is a desaster, indeed. There are a few Transition Initiatives in Christchurch. Closest to you is St Albans, then there is Woolston (Roimata), Cashmere, Lyttelton and Lincoln, just to name the most active ones. There are interested people and groups in different places. Sorry to lose you to Auckland. I hope you'll find a local group up there.
