Hi Hannah, thanks for connecting. Lets keep cultivating the soil of the heart inside us. Then we will intuit what we need to do next. Mother earth speaks to us through the heartsong. Arohanui Hirini

I’d welcome an opportunity to discuss the possibility of having a marae based currency conference. I can’t spare the time this week to do the subject justice, but perhaps we could make a time next week. It’s a shame you…

I found out about Transition Towns...
From a friend who told me
In the context of Transition Towns my interests / passions are:
Rewa mai ana he ika hou. New fish of Maui rising from the old one. Interested in all the many aspects around sustainability and self-sufficiency. Yet also interested in the unfolding spirituality that gives meaning to the transition movement that is happening. A new iwi for Aotearoa woven together by spirit yet containing many shades of skin. Our legacy of aroha to the unborn ones.
What are you happy to share about yourself:
Been a soldier, businessman, engineer. Followed my own shamanic path and lived alone in the wilderness of North Island Aotearoa. Working currently on several projects. Developing an eco-mystery school with linkages and connections to other indigenous tribes overseas. DIY eco-martial arts for self-mastery. Sustainable energy-efficient maraes. Plus a few other seedlings.

Intuition - The Language of Fertile Field

We are living in interesting times. Intuition, coincidence, synchronicity grandmother mystery, little voice or whatever you use to describe this language is happening. Accelerating. Growing stronger. As we work with the soil, our hands become receivers of messages. The earth sends messages. Our feelings get stronger. Our inner voice gets louder. No more do we remain mute. Or dismissive. Our hearts are expanding. Our brains are evolving. Our minds are connecting. We are evolving into something.… Continue

The Rising Fish - Reincarnation Aotearoa

My interest in this transition towns is both physical and symbolic. The crisis in the oil is causing people to explore society and nationhood in new ways. Yet there is much inward looking needed as well. Definition of self within the collective. Convergence of ideas and identities into a new what? I believe that both spirit, soil and science are being called to work together. Both native and immigrant bloodlines merging to form a new child of the land. A new incarnation of what Kiwi means. A… Continue

It’s a shame you can’t make the conference as having Tom Greco in NZ is a unique opportunity to learn from one the most highly qualified people in this field. Tom will be speaking in Auckland, so let me know if you’d like to be advised of details. Any chance you could persuade one or two Maori people to hear him, or to register for the conference?

With regards the permaculture gathering - if I remember correctly there are people in Whakatane keen to start a Time Bank – a model that tends to promote community building – an ideal foundation for community currency systems. They’d be worth including in any exploration.

Hi Hirini,
It was good to meet you again at the Resilient Pathways forum in Wellington. You’ll probably hear from Paul Bruce soon re a follow up public meeting to hear Thomas Greco - St Johns, cnr dixon and Willis St, Tues 14th April, 7 to 9pm. We anticipate a good attendance as Tom’s presentation follows his interview with Kim Hill, which I understand will be broadcast on Sat 11th.

Tom is the keynote speaker at the Community Currency Conference in Whanganui, 17th – 19th April. Details: http://www.le.org.nz/tiki-index.php
Tom’s blog: http://www.reinventingmoney.com/

The purpose of this conference is to inspire change-makers to give birth to a range of local initiatives capable of strengthening local economies, and to equip attendees with a sound basis on which to implement appropriate systems according to the particular visions, resources and needs in their respective locales. We’d love to see you there!

Incidentally, it seems that this conference is well timed; the way registrations are coming in it looks as though we’ll have a full house. We're delighted with the diverse range of skills and passions represented among those already registered.

Kia Ora e hoa.
Great to re-read your words from late last year. I would love to, and I know Daniel would love to be involved in the type of project you are speaking of. We are currently working with Ngai Tai on establishing a marae food forest and Ngati Awa on marae food security. However, 'kai ora' is but one of the manly pedals you spoke of in your korero. The work you are speaking of is some of the most important mahi I think we can be doing now. Let us know when you are keen to have a more in depth conversation. kaitiaki@orcon.net.nz

I was hoping to catch up with you directly at the Ecoshow but obviously that was not meant to be. I want to check and make sure Daniel has been in touch with you directly about your (not so) recent request. If not let me know and I will rack him up again. Trust all is well.

Kia ora ano Hirini - thanks - I'm really glad you're interested!

I'm looking to interview people with a range of different types of involvement in TT - not only people who are actually driving or co-ordinating TT groups - so I'd love to present your perspective and involvement .

On the whole I'm preferring to do email interviews (for selfish reasons! :) ... But if you would prefer skype I can certainly do that! What do you think?

I'm involved with the Wgtn South Transition Towns group. At the moment I'm writing an article about TT for World Sweet World magazine.

I'd be really keen to interview you - along with several others - for this. I was wondering if I could talk to you more about it? I'm at - johanna.knox@gmail.com

It would be great to hear from you. Many thanks!!!

Hi Hirini,

We're trying to get a good speaker round climate change over here in the Bay of Islands also. You had Dr David Lowe from Niwa in Lower Hutt.
How did you manage the event and would he be prepared to come over here also?

Cheers,
Geert

Tena koe brother. Might suggestion is that you hook up with some gardeners in Welly. Rowan from CommonGround Community Gardens; Sally Bowman, Te Rawhitiroa and the local Enviroschools coordinators are the people I suggest you make contact with. They are likely to be able to resource and support you with your kaupapa. Let me know if you need further support.
