"Just a thought, but how about seeking out (or starting up) a community garden near where you live? There are a few around Auckland. That way you'll be able to meet like-minded souls and pick up tips on growing more than parsley."

I'd re pot the plant myself, if you are using a clay type pot, make sure you have a hole or two in the bottom, then place some small stones, 1/2" to 1" in diameter on the bottom layer, for drainage, this way the soil will be able to keep itself from getting clogged up. I am no expert, but I reckon if you smile at it too it'll grow okay. (One has to compliment your lovely smile)
I also place pumice stones on the top as these hold moisture while you're waiting for a rainy day
Let me know how you go, and every now and then get a knitting needle or other long bit if steel, and poke the soil to let the air through the soil, same goes for most potted plants. Thin needles or similar doesn't upset the root system.
Enjoy the day, and keep in touch.
Cheers for now
Deano :-)
