Kate and Olly replied to Deirdre Kent's discussion This social networking site has a major decision to make about its future, please read
"I am very much behind the path to change the tt.org.nz site to imitate this social networking system. I don't want to put Rimu on the spotlight with an increased workload but, like he said, he has done it before and Drupal is a wonderfully…"

"Perhaps it is worth investigating a more dynamic and complete use of the organic groups on the TransitionTowns.org.nz website? Groups could be opened up for users to make their own like they are here and activation of personal messaging systems too…"

Kate and Olly replied to Dave's discussion Bus Rapid Transit in the group Choice Moves Alternate Transport
"You are so very right to highlight the fact that no city is the same and there will consequently not be a one size fits all mass transit system for every city. New Zealand has developed a series of very different cities with different characters but…"

Bamboo frames

Bamboo is one of those materials that is underused and misunderstood in the Western world. I have not tried this yet mainly because my steel frame track bike is doing so well and may well outlive me.I saw a howto on Instructables where they used a mix of carbon fiber and bamboo to create a very beautiful frame (the image below is not from there).I don't suppose the knowledge is there yet to build…See More

Humdinger Windbelt

As Llywelyn's comment on the group wall says, it is best to start with efficiency savings and look at what our needs really are before loading our roofs up with banks of power generators but I wanted to bring this up as I found it very interesting indeed. I am interested in power generation systems that are sufficiently low tech to be able to be serviced and even made by a community without hard to find specialist help.A few years ago I came…See More
