I found out about Transition Towns...
From a friend who told me
In the context of Transition Towns my interests / passions are:
Living independantly from the suburban dream. To live as part of a community to gain and maintain such independance off the grid with integrity. Educate our children and hand the knowledge down, share information and go beyond sustainability and move towards restoration of our all our ecosystems. Live within the laws of nature, treat all beings equally. Help the human world to wake up to a different way of being.
What are you happy to share about yourself:
I struggle with the fact that I am so dependant on the supply of oil, the supermarket, electrical and water suppliers and all other forms of retail to live. I am very aware that if there was a financial crash I would not survive very well because of this high dependency. I am very concerned with climate change and how dependent sustainability is on this great factor. Could my children and myself survive if some catastrophe happened? Food, shelter and water I feel is taken for granted, especially by myself, I do not think Waipu has the resources to cope in isolation if such a situation arose. It would be nice to get TT up and functioning in Waipu, is anyone else out there? in Waipu? Ruakaka? One Tree Point wanting to? How does Bream Bay Transition Towns sound?
Where do you live (City or Town):
Waipu

Hi Kelly, It's great to see you here! Let me know if I can help you with your photo... cropping, sizing, adjusting contrast, fitting it to the site, etc. Then when I've returned it to you, you can post it to the site at Profile Photo. Photos become very important as our group grows.

Hi Kelly, I see you're getting the technology sorted, which is great. We've got an event in Whg city on the 7th August that we're working on, so hopefully we'll soon have more people from your neck of the woods for you to team up with.

Now that you've joined this network, click on "groups" on the top menu or see the list of groups down the left hand side of home page and click on the Whangarei TT. Once in there, click on "request to join" on the top right beside a green cross. Check out Philippa in our group, I think she's near you.

Stay in touch. All the best,

Genevieve
