Profile Information

I found out about Transition Towns...
From a friend who told me
In the context of Transition Towns my interests / passions are:
Food production - including growing food (both in the soil and on the hoof) using hand tools where possible.

Seed saving (without cross-pollination) - as a precursor to sowing next years crop.

Soil management to produce a harvest without artificial fertiliser or pesticides, herbicides etc.

Easy to grow starchy crops to replace bought rice, pasta etc.

Harvesting and storing techniques.

Turning produce into meals (forgotten cooking skills).

General life skills for living on and from the land (rather than the supermarket).

Psychology of change (working in groups, creating a positive vision rather than seeing doom and gloom, personal and spiritual development to be able to work together rather than competing).
What are you happy to share about yourself:
Happy Peasant :)
Where do you live (City or Town):
Whangarei

Hi Laura,
I did know about the Whangarei group, but I hadn't got around to joining, so thanks for the reminder and I have joined now.

Hi Laura,

I am so illiterate on the computer it's ridiculous - how do I add myself to the Whangarei site - I would love to advertise the Sunday markets there!

Regards
Nickie

Hi Laura,
Manchurian Rice Grass sound interesting. I'm not that familiar with it, though I believe it is similar to Raupo. The big question is does it have a similar thick, starchy base like Raupo...if so it could be a goer for local ethanol production.

Cheers for the comment!

Hi Waltraud,

When you click on the aeriel photo for Whangarei group, you can then click on "request to join" in top right hand corner beside a green sign. You're right about not being in the group just yet.

Good luck, Genevieve

Laura if you are worried you might get mixed with the other Laura, you both have posted different images and all you need to do is put a second name.
