Integral Philosophy and Transition at St Albans Community Centre

September 10, 2009 from 7pm to 9pm
To date, our focus has tended to be more about the exterior dimensions or actions required to respond to the current ecological crisis – as shown in either our individual or collective behaviours ( recycling, food growing, bio fuels etc). However, as our ecological balance is shown to be increasingly out of sync, there’s been an accompanying revelation that there is also an imbalance in our economic, financial, political, health, communication - and belief systems. This ‘teetering on the edge’…See More

Peak Oil and Human Development......where's the connection?

Here's a quote from an article in the latest EnlightenNext magazine. Elza Maalouf, CEO of the Centre for Human Emergence-Middle East and a native of Lebanon, (was interviewed) about her views on the current trends that could define the future of the Muslim world.'There are a couple of things that are changing all over the Muslim world that I think will continue to accelerate in the near future. One is that oil is dying, and the Obama administration is focusing on the development of new energy…See More

Integral Transitions and Change at St. Albans Community Centre

July 30, 2009 from 7pm to 9pm
If you enjoyed our first meeting, make a note in your diary for Get Together No 2 on Thursday July 30th, 7-9pm at the St. Albans Community Centre.Last time we looked at Don Beck’s informative DVD on Spiral Dynamics and we began to uncover some of the core foci from the work of Ken Wilber - on the emerging Integral Mindset/Consciousness and a response to this work from Steve McIntosh (I know we gave up on this a little). This exploration has been sparked by our current ecological predicament and…See More

Kia ora Linda
Just commenting on your very perceptive insight into our brains evoloving, hearts expanding and minds attuning into the noosphere of higher consciousness. Yes I believe we need a good shock or crisis to accelerate the breakdown of old blockheads and concreted hearts. I think the current reccession is absolutley perfect and right on time. It will cause massive change and pain on a material level. Yet at a higher level, people will intuit their own meanings. Sometimes humankind needs a swift kick up the arse (sorry) to change its destructive behaviours. All the nice approaches has not worked. So I believe the Earth has had a gutsful and is ready to repair, detox and recycle her current earth systems. Just my thoughts. H.

Hi Hirini,
I had an insight into a possible 'silver lining' in our current ecological crisis. Could it be that we are realising that we have moved beyond the tipping point and that the only movement for growth (life) to respond now is in a growth/expansion in the capacity for our human brains to evolve, our hearts to expand and our minds to attune to what Teilhard de Chardin called the noosphere - the thought sphere beyond ecosphere. Is this the next unfolding?

Hi Linda. We are all very busy. The challenge is doing the really important things first, whenever possible. I expect in your occupation you have a much better handle on that concept than I have. It's great to see you join this community and I hope you find more time for it than I do! Dave
