"An online carpool system could be of use. There are plenty, Jayride is just one of them. Jayride's is a free nationwide carpool site; although it is nationwide, because it is tailored for NZ it'll localise really well into whatever local…"

"No -I wouldn't let the rats eat instead of the kids - I would eat the rats! But I wouldn't just let them paddle for a long time and then laugh about it. I have no qualms eating animals if I am hungry - but a short whack is kinder than…"

"yeah i do pity the rat, and i don't know how long the poor thing paddled to stay afloat, but it was an accident. It's also not the rat's fault that its ancestors thrived to the point that our native bird populations have suffered. You…"

So carpooling just delays the inevitable???

sorry to be facetious but it appears there isn't a lot of support in this planet-preserving measure. Do you guys just want to get there as quickly as possible? Surely this whole TT thing is not all about how we're gonna survive and get along when there's no oil (getting to the pumps). Isn't it about how to reduce/stop draining possibly vital fluid from crust/plates that could seriously displace the earth's axis and send us into a global human-made catastrophe?

talking of mouse/rat trap design, i was feeding our horses and left an empty bucket bar a few grains hanging on the fence. Heavy rain fell during the night and yup, 1/4 full with a floating body. Easiest rat trap on the globe.

Community Carpooling - is it possible?

I've been carless (mainly by choice) for the 1st time in my life for over a year now and it's been interesting. Really notice all the vehicles now that just carry a driver. Haven't needed to join the gym as I bike, walk, catch lifts if necessary and been able to borrow a family member's car (my licence is squeaky clean...hasn't been handled by all those cops I guess...just kidding). Some days I really miss not having a vehicle and that family member i mentioned is considering sharing their car…See More

Hi again

actually we needed a site we could use frequently on an ongoing basis near to town and not confuse us with Be Free. Although Be Free is an important action group it is only a very tiny part of what we do. There are many community gardens and we want to start to connect them all up with each other and the food bank...... Good work on car pooling. I thank that in Northland distances are big and when we go somewhere we save the trip up so that we cna do many jobes at once making it more difficult but not impossible to carpool. Hope to meet you soon.
