Considering NZ imports the majority of its staple grains, such as wheat , rice etc, I am interested in looking into the viability of using the CSA model to help increase the production of these and other carbohydrate crops with the domestic market.See More

Hi richard,
It's a pity you can't make the conference. Maybe you could encourage someone else in your area to attend. What excites me about this conf is not just the line-up of presenters, but the skills, passion and abilities of many who are registering - and not only NZers, but Australians and a great guy from Vanuatu also! Our intention , post conference, is to write up and maybe make a DVD reflecting the shared wisdom that will enable people to put into practice what they've learnt.

Hi Richard,

I've often appreciated your contributions on the NZTT list - the most recnt being about the political process.

When you have a little time to spare I'd very much appreicate an opportunity to have a phone call with you. - possibly on skype. My name is helendew.

Howdy mate,
We have been trying to get in touch with you for a while, but the phone number does not seem to work and seem to have lost your email address too. As a last resort I had to join up here...
Obviously you have moved from Kohumaru? Would really love to catch up with you, you fellow exiles from the BM.
Cheers,

Hi Richard
I checked to see if any suitable Typha data came up on the Arazona University links. No such luck.
Colin Little is no relation that I know of.

Cheers

Hi there Richard, in relation to you giving a talk in Whangarei in November, sorry about this, but we're needing to change the date and want to check out if you could possibly make it on Wednesday 5th November instead of the 7th? You would be welcome to stay over with one of us in the steering group if that helps. How does this date sound?

Hi Richard, Isn't it bizarre that we have a whole river full of Manchurian Rice Grass flowing from Whangarei to Dargaville (and a lot of paddocks getting invaded too), yet nobody is interested in doing anything with this resource. Lots of small scale trials have been made to use it in a variety of ways and it makes superb paper, according to some who tried it - but that never got out of the baby stage. Ethanol comes to mind now and yet the Councils are hell-bent on spraying it to death (along a water course!). Amazing really!
We hope to see you up in Whangarei at some stage in late October/early November maybe?

Kia Ora Richard. Enjoyed your presentation re ethanol - lots of potential clearly up here re raupo and maybe other starch-based plants. If only we could reclaim the Motutangi swamp below us from mega dairy farmer neighbour - would have once been raupo/harakeke/te kouka etc. Maybe some of the 80k Ha Maori-owned land in the north can be regenerated in this way if Iwi get involved. Avocados taking over all large land tracts in our neck of the woods. Could SSF (sustainable farming fund) be a potential funding option for initial planting for ultimate trials? Never having been involved in sourcing funding, don't know...maybe their criteria too specific. Ciao Sue

Hi Richard, I've pushed your bus right to the top of the homepage groups and I'm in the process of sending out a broadcast message to our entire 320 members. Hopefully that will fill your bus.
