Profile Information

I found out about Transition Towns...
From a friend who told me
In the context of Transition Towns my interests / passions are:
I'm developing a passion for living a life of integrity, being as conscious and mindful of our beautiful Mother Earth and how we can care for and treat her respectfully.
I'm interested in becoming part of a community that functions as a community - supporting one another for our betterment and that of our local environment and our planet.
What are you happy to share about yourself:
Not entirely sure what to put here, so here's a bit about me:
Single mum of one gorgeous daughter, currently work fulltime in IT, but changing my focus and direction in life and becoming a lot more 'aware' - of everything I do, and it's impact on those around me, including the environment. My path in life is taking me in a much different direction - one of honest integrity. I'm very passionate about that, and becoming REALLY aware of my impact on this planet we live in, and that I *can* make a difference. Every little thing I do helps.
Interested in growing my own food, rainwater collection, living intentionally.
As Ghandi said: Be the change you want to see in the world.

Enough said. :-)
Where do you live (City or Town):
Opawa, Christchurch

Kia ora Sally ,
Alan Preston here ( http://urbanbicycles.googlepages.com )
What can we do to get more people to take up cycling for their everyday transport ?
(It's all on the urbanbicycles web-site) .

Make submissions to the likes of the
Greater Christchurch Transport Demand Strategy http://www.greaterchristchurch.org.nz/TDM/
The Sustainable Transort Strategy
http://crc.govt.nz/Our+Environment/Transport/Sustainable+Transport/Developing-cycle-strategies.htm
etc....
By continuing to maintain its extremely conservative approach to providing for and promoting 'cycling', Christchurch , the city that is ironically regarded as New Zealand's most 'cycle-friendly (ha!) city is inhibiting the uptake of what should be
a much more popular mode of transport.
Basically they need to change the whole paradigm away from the current approach ....
Also,- re intentional communities in New Zealand : I've heard Creekside ( in St Albans) are looking for a replacement member
http://directory.ic.org/1909/Creekside_Community ( March 2009 )

Time to 'get on my bike '
