I found out about Transition Towns...
From a friend who told me
In the context of Transition Towns my interests / passions are:
Sustainable, Beyond-Sustainable, ethical, and healthy living. I have skills & knowledge & interests & business in various practical engineering & technology things, including solar energy, "alternative" energy, independent energy, "alternative" transport, human-powered transport, electric vehicles, and new truly-green electronic & mechanical products (new innovations and inventions).

I design and make/build/craft things myself. And I reduce-reuse-recycle-repair as much as I can. :)
What are you happy to share about yourself:
I also grow organically as much food as possible, and almost always buy organic food. Mostly a plant-based diet, based on what I can grow / what's grown locally.

I bicycle for transport as much as I can. A rear carrier and a bicycle trailer can carry a surprising amount of groceries etc!

:)
Where do you live (City or Town):
Christchurch

G'day :)

I've started and run a small business that does healthy, ethical, & sustainable engineering, technical, & practical things - SK2 Tech Solutions http://www.SK2Tech.co.nz

Some of the things I do and am passionate about are: solar energy (solar water heating & solar electric (solar PV)), healthy transport (including bicycles, bicycle trailers, & HPV's), electronics (design, repair, custom built products, and inventions/innovations), computers (repair, upgrades, advice, tuition), and engineering (mechanical things).

Based mostly in Christchurch, but I do travel & work elsewhere around NZ sometimes.

I like to work with and for others of like mind, those with similar intentions, actions, and lifestyles. :)

Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss something. :) Steve@SK2Tech.co.nz

Great. Do you mind if I check back in with you when I've moved into Christchurch?
I'm focussing on creating a home first, but still love the rick shaw idea. Need to focus my energies a bit right now or I'm going to burn up! Kowhai

Hi Steven, vice to meet you! Such interesting, alive, switched on people on this forum, it's great. I like the sound of your bike and trailor scenario. I'm thinking it would be cool to have a gardening rickshaw thing, so that I can just cycle to local jobs with my tools in the back. Let me know if any ideas/leads surface with this.... Kowhai
